Totem IV - The Bow River
Gallery / Current Painting
Acrylic on Canvas
96” x 60”
This large scale painting was the image used for the postcard invitation “From High Places” at my Edmonton dealer’s gallery, Gallery on Whyte (later known as Bugera/Kmet Galleries). The painting was featured in a very favourably-critiqued quarter-page review in The Edmonton Journal, with colour photo included, and where mention was made of The Group of Seven and Tom Thompson, and linked to this piece. Best review ever!

My innate love of trees…..!
I loved the following poem, even as a child:
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair.
Poems are made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree.
By Joyce Kilmer
1913
(And paintings are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree. Amen.)
