Panther Falls Near The Columbia Icefield

This painting was featured on the postcard invitation for my exhibition of large scale paintings at Virginia Christopher Galleries in Calgary. The  Brewster Transportation Company had an awesome program for artists who applied to stay at their accommodations near the site of the Columbia Icefield.  We were generously looked after and were free to spend our days outdoors, painting and sketching.

We drove to many exciting locations, including the Columbia Icefield, where we were taken midway up the glacier on the giant vehicle that’s there for that purpose.   Once dropped off, our small tourist group carefully traversed the glacier with the expertise of the guide.  An exhilarating experience.  Jumping over some of the beautiful aqua coloured and dangerous crevasses seemed life threatening -  and was - as our guide conveyed several gruesome tales that he swore to be true.
