Merlot & Petunia Pig

Petunia Pig is a life-size version and was my first foray into the world of sculpture. My good friend and neighbour, Lynn Christian, was a creative genius in sculpture and helped me a great deal to create this first clay rendition of my barnyard model. Lynn and I spent many a happy day working intensively and laughing a lot (and perhaps those times involved a little bit of Merlot, which explains the name given to the smaller pig!).
Because Petunia was so large, it was a miracle she survived the heat of the kiln intact, with only part of her left foot being broken.
